Mobile Technician Field Trial a Success
Shaker's Mobile Technician application completes its successful field trial at EMCOR Facilities Services
Hoffman Estates, Ill. – February 5, 2007 – Shaker's Mobile Technician application has completed its successful field trial at EMCOR Facilities Services, demonstrating streamlined dispatching and communication with field service technicians. Shaker Computer and Management Services, Inc. (SHAKER, www.ShakerComputer.com) announces the successful completion of field testing for the new version of its Mobile Technician software at EMCOR Facilities Services, a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME).
SHAKER worked closely with strategic partners EMCOR Facilities Services (EFS) and Syclo LLC on the development of Mobile Technician. Mobile Technician is a wireless application that provides field service personnel with timely access to critical visit, site, equipment and tasking data. It allows them to capture all work completed on the device and transmits information about the visit to the back office for real-time status updates.
"Mobile Technician is a testament to the competitive advantage that a product can bring to the marketplace when companies work together as a team, utilizing their individual expertise to produce a superior product," stated Maynard Lassonde, President, Shaker Computer and Management Services. "The combination of EFS' field service industry experience and dedication to continual improvement, Syclo's cutting-edge mobile development tools, plus the integration and Call Management System expertise of SHAKER, has resulted in the first truly integrated mobile field service, service management and accounting system available to the market."
EFS is preparing for the wider rollout of Mobile Technician to most of its field service technicians beginning in January 2007, with completion targeted in 2008. "To the extent that world-class client service is our driving priority and passion, we are excited about our co-creation and launch of this new product; it represents yet an additional means by which we'll be able to continuously improve the quality and timeliness of the information we access in order to help manage our clients' facilities more effectively," stated Michael P. Bordes, Senior Vice President, EMCOR Facilities Services and President of EMCOR Services. "Mobile Technician gives us a uniform solution that provides critical information at the fingertips of our technicians."
EFS contributed valuable workflow advice to the Mobile Technician project. Because EFS already used COINS Ti™ by SHAKER, field testing Mobile Technician demonstrated that it was able to streamline the dispatch process and integrate service visit data with its COINS Ti ERP system at a very granular level. Field technicians captured all details of the work they completed using Mobile Technician, resulting in quicker and more accurate billing. Technicians were able to provide real-time status updates, leading to better information to customers about work in progress. The paperless workflow contributed to increased productivity and more efficient processing of billings and payroll in the back office.
Mobile Technician is built using Syclo's Agentry™ development platform. Agentry shortens development times, lowers application maintenance costs and will allow SHAKER to keep up with ever-changing mobile standards and technologies. For example, Agentry makes it possible for Mobile Technician to take advantage of a wide variety of wireless devices, including the Pocket PC devices used for field testing. Today's inexpensive devices, combined with the wider availability and lower cost of data communication plans, make Mobile Technician an affordable option for companies with field service operations. Mobile Technician can reduce problems caused by inefficient communication between technicians in the field and critical back office operations, problems that afflict many service organizations.
